Foundation Builders

Our Story

Homebuilding is in our blood.

I'm a fourth-generation homebuilder. My great-grandfather built homes. His oldest son, my Uncle Ed, went on to start Ryan Homes. My grandfather, Jim Ryan, stepped out on his own and founded Ryland Homes. My Uncle Dan later founded Dan Ryan Builders, now DRB Homes. My father built homes and developed land. My uncles built. Even my mom worked in the business.

Now it's my turn.

But the legacy I want to carry forward isn't simply the number of homes our family has built or the companies that came from it. It's why each generation was willing to step out and start again.

Somewhere along the way, homebuilding can become too corporate. Decisions start getting made from spreadsheets instead of job sites. Homes become units. Customers become numbers. Trade partners become line items. And dollars and cents start mattering more than the people actually doing the work.

Our family has never been very good at accepting that.

Generation after generation, someone eventually stepped out and said, there has to be a better way.

Foundation Builders is my turn.

I believe the things we build our lives around should have a strong foundation.

Your career should be a foundation in your life. Your home should be a foundation for your family. And when we do business with our trade partners, the word partner needs to mean something.

If we succeed at someone else's expense, we didn't succeed.

It needs to be win-win — or NO DEAL.

That's how I believe business should be done. Know your customers. Know your trade partners. Know your land. Get your boots on the ground. Keep your chin up. Do what you say you're going to do. And never forget the people behind the numbers.

Because we're not building units.

We're building homes. We're building careers. We're building partnerships. We're building foundations.

That's why we're called Foundation Builders.

And after four generations of my family building homes, I'm proud to take my turn.

We're here for you.
